Elderly UK Woman Forced to Find New Doctor Because of ‘Carbon Footprint’

If you live in England you do not need to worry about medical bills, the government will pay for it. While this may sound like the healthcare utopia envisioned by proponents of Obamacare,  it is wise to remember that  for everything there is a price.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting today that 83 year old Avril Mulcahy received a letter from her National Health Service (NHS) medical clinic,  telling her that she needed to find a new Primary Care Physician (GP).  This directive was not initiated by the retirement of her physician or the closing of her clinic, but rather due to the unseemly size of Mrs. Mulcahy’s carbon footprint. You see Mrs. Mulcahy lives too far from the clinic which she has been using for the past 30 years. Her clinic is one mile from her home.

The letter read in part “taking into consideration green travelling issues. Re: Carbon footprints and winter weather conditions, we feel it would be advisable for patients to register at surgeries nearer to where they live.”  The notice concluded by giving Mrs. Mulcahy 28 days to find a new doctor.  Read the entire article HERE, the letter is below.
