ANTI SEMITIC SIGN PROVOKES PASSERBY
In what has become a near daily event, the plaza at Westlake Park in downtown Seattle was again host to an anti-Israel rally yesterday where several anti-Semitic signs were on public display. While the Jewish Federation and the Anti Defamation League have condemned anti-Semitic signage comparing Israel to Nazi Germany among other Nazi themeology seen at these events, their appeal for civility seems to have fallen on deaf ears.
At one point during the rally a passerby (man in blue T-shirt right) expressed his offense at a sign equating Israel to Nazi Germany.
The situation quickly escalated from an exchange of words, to threats and a violent confrontation.
Although it is not clear who threw the first punch, an arrest was made and the passerby in the blue shirt left the scene without further incident.
The Jewish community in Seattle has been stunned by the unexpected and repeated displays of Nazi and anti-Semitic themed signs and banners at anti-Israel rallies since the start of Operation Protective Edge this past July. The video below is from a protest at Westlake Park in Seattle earlier today, August 10th, 2014. Below the video are photos from anti-Israel rallies at Westlake Plaza taken on both August 9th and August 10th. This is Seattle, WA in 2014.
