Dozens of Organizations Sponsor Pro-Israel Rally at Seattle Center. Video & Photos.
A broad representation of Seattle’s diverse Jewish community joined together in solidarity with the Jewish state at the mural amphitheatre at Seattle Center today.
“Our Solidarity with Israel and the people of Israel is as solid as Mt. Carmel”. Keith Dvorchik
The event attended by several hundred supporters of Israel opened with remarks by Seattle Jewish Federation President Keith Dvorchik who declared to warm applause “Our Solidarity with Israel and the people of Israel is as solid as Mt. Carmel”.
Congressman Adam Smith affirmed his deep commitment to the safety and security of Israel.
Israeli Vice Consul Eyal Naor noted that “Hamas which calls in its charter for the killing of the Jews and the destruction of the state of Israel is no different than Al Queda, ISIS, Boko Haram and other Jihad motivated terror entities around the world.” He assured the assembled group that “Israel will prevail” and closed with a prayer for peace.
By far the most enthusiastic of the speaking line-up was Rabbi Ben Hassan of Sephardic Bikur Holim. He energized the crowd with chants of “Am Yisrael Chai” and “Who loves Israel?! Rabbi Hassan’s message was one of unity as he celebrated the singularity of support for Israel in the Seattle community during this crisis and prayed for continued unity in the difficult days that lie ahead.
The solidarity event served as a much needed morale boost for many in the local Israeli community who are particularly connected to the conflict halfway across the world. One Israeli in attendance was anxious that we quickly post the photos and video of today’s event so that she could share them with her family in Tel Aviv. Lea Hanan of Renton shared with The Mike Report that it is her hope “that our brother and sisters in Israel hear about how we came together today in support and love for them”. To our Israeli readers, please pass it on.
