The banner was carried by members of the Palestine Solidarity Committee. The same group was associated with protests this Summer in downtown Seattle which featured swastikas and comparisons of Israel to Nazi Germany.

Before attacking a building from which rockets and missiles were being launched in Gaza, Israel phoned (yes, phoned) the inhabitants, dropped leaflets and used other means to give civilians the chance to leave. Of course, it also gave Hamas terrorists the chance to run away, too, but not before they’d order, at gunpoint, the men, women and children back into the buildings.
And here’s something you don’t know. Israel aborted attacks when they thought people were still in the buildings. Sometimes it was too late and the building was blown up. What a wonderful propaganda victory for Hamas.
And here’s something you don’t know. 15 seconds. That’s all you have to run to a shelter when a rocket or missile has been launched in the direction of your village or town. You stop whatever you’re doing, washing the dishes, eating, playing with the children, sleeping and race to the shelter to save your life. And if you’re outside and more than a 15-sec dash from the shelter, you lie down on the ground and cover your child with your body. That’s terrorism.
And here’s something you don’t know. Supplies from Israel into Gaza never stopped throughout the recent war but they didn’t always reach the people. Why? Because Hamas fired rockets at the trucks. That’s terrorism.
And here’s something you don’t know. Israel set up a field hospital for Gazan civilians during the war. Gazans, including relatives of Haniye, continued to cross into Israel for medical treatment in Israeli hospitals. Do you know how many Syrians have received life-saving treatment in Israeli hospitals? Probably not, that would confuse you with fact.
You confuse cause and effect. Israel/Jews have suffered a century of Arab terrorism (fedayeen, Fatah, Hamas, Islamic jihad and so on). The world ignores it until finally Israel responds. And then you all cry crocodile tears.

This is another example of incitement, activism and public displays in a time of civil unrest. The president spoke of reflection and the need to reduce tensions. However, at every opportunity and among a very angry vengeful population, volatile and destructive, they seek those who want to assault and attack. The foreign policy that asks for compromise and land is a smokescreen for an anti-Jew agenda around the world. Ferguson is not some other country, or someone else’s problem, these are anti-Israel and anti Jewish protests and attacks in the U.S. it is everyone’s problematic situation that warrants concern and preventative measures.

That you don’t understand that Hamas is a terror organization that took over a territory that Israel removed all its settlers from a decade ago and with good will turned over to the Palestinians, and that in return the Palestinians in Gaza elected Hamas, a terror organization, to rule them, and that Hamas has been lopping bombs at Israeli civilians trying to kill them ever since.

Krista – if you care for the people of Gaza as you claim, then don’t side with the Jew-haters. You cannot help Gazans by blaming Israel because Israel is not the problem. The problem lies with a violent, cruel regime that includes the so-called moderates of Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah (PA president in his 10th year of a 4-year presidency), Hamas, Islamic Jihad and all the other terrorist organizations. They have no scruples. They have brainwashed their population to glorify death. Read their national charters – both Fatah and Hamas promote genocide of the Jewish people. Is that what you support?
BTW, Hamas is not interested in creating a Palestinian state – they talk openly of creating a caliphate in Palestine. Do you honestly think conditions would improve for the Gazans if they were to succeed in annihilating the Jews?
Have a look at Gaza in the 1980s, when Israel occupied it. Jewish Israelis lived there, as indeed they had since 1934 and from where they had been thrown out in 1948 by the Egyptians who occupied it until 1967. The Jews built up flourishing horticultural businesses, green houses which were handed over to the Gazans in 2005 so they could turn Gaza into Singapore in the ME. Give yourself a project – find out what happened to those green houses.

Israel has offered peace for 66 years, and only has been met with horrific acts you cannot dream of in your worst nightmares. Jews have taken it on the chin time and time again. This reply might a little overly full of anger, but I get the point behind it. I also get the point behind the signs referenced in the original post. It’s only a head scratcher if you don’t get the idea of piggybacking protests or you’re willfully blind to the situation in the Middle East. No one is blaming the Jews for Ferguson. It’s asinine to setup that strawman. What they are saying is that oppression is oppression, be it in Ferguson or Palestine. The message is actually: “Hey, if you’re pissed about what’s going on in Ferguson, you should be pissed about what’s going on in Palestine too.” It’s a perfectly reasonable connection and method of recruiting people to their cause.
Every time a parent spanks a child for extremely bad behavior, maybe the anti-Israeli protesters should come out and picket. It’s very much anti-Jewish and piggybacking onto Ferguson builds false equivalencies. Not only that, in both cases, the attacker takes a beating and then their specter is raised as, “victim” by people who know very little about the situation.

One of my best friends is Palestinian and she has lived there overseas for at least a decade. She is outraged by the immense support people are giving Israel when her friends in Palestine recount to her the terror they ensue every day. For some reason one thing did not show up in my last comment. Flankton, please explain to me why Israel is not considered a state by the UN. The US is one of very few who does. What does this mean? This obviously has an effect on why our information about this whole situation is sided with Israel.

So I’m a little skeptical when I hear about oppressed Palestinians. The only people oppressing them are their own leaders, the ones getting rich on money the West showers them with. Wouldn’t you reckon that if they want a state so much, they would have accepted one of those options over the years? For 400 years, the area referred to as Palestine was a province of the Ottoman Empire and was run from Ottoman seat of government in Damascus.

Each of those Israeli flights could have killed 95 Gazans but did not. Even Gen. Dempsey went over to Israel to find out how the Israelis limited collateral damage when going after military targets embedded in civilian areas. British Col. R. Kemp said that the Israelis were the best at limiting civilian casualties and that the Israeli Forces were the most humane in the world.

I am not claiming those people aren’t anti-semites, but, I don’t know if it is a blatant attempt to blame Israel/Jews for Ferguson as much as it is an attempt to grab the stage. The narrative of American backing of Israel/Zionists controlling the US is probably lurking behind this, but it may not be as dire. Piggy backing on organized protests with one’s own niche cause has been common at least since the WTO protests in 1999. I would not be surprised if there were other groups that “loosely” connected their causes to Ferguson. Some, like Animal Rights activists, may not be represented in Ferguson marches, because human rights activists (especially those representing local minorities) often dismiss them (“You want to save the whales while there are people dying right here”), but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were messages of “solidarity” (whether genuine or not) from other human rights groups. I support a free Tibet, so I say this with sympathy, I bet there were Tibetans and pro-Tibet activists at several rallies across the country holding signs connecting the two issues.
