Palestinian plans to drill for oil means a new cartoon

ABC News reports today  that

Mohammed Mustafa, deputy prime minister for economic affairs, is seeking proposals to explore and develop oil in the northern West Bank.

Mohammed Mustafa, PA deputy prime minister for economic affairs.

“Mohammed Mustafa, the Palestinians’ deputy prime minister for economic affairs, said the Palestinians were seeking proposals from international firms to explore and develop oil in the northern West Bank.”

The fly in the ointment is that the areas the Palestinians have designated for exploration are mostly within “the 60 percent of the West Bank that was left under full Israeli control under interim peace deals two decades ago.”

We at The Mike Report will not pretend to know what Mr. Mustafa and friends hope to accomplish with this doomed from infancy proposal. But this is as good an excuse as any for a new Mike Report cartoon.
