Devin Murphy should resign
Devin Murphy should apologize to Sunny Singh, Lauren Rogers and the students of UCLA, then he should resign.
The students of the UCLA branch of the anti-Semitic hate group Students for Justice in Palestine were having a difficult time. Despite their tireless efforts at frenetic propagandizing, their climactic anti-Israel divest resolution failed.
Surmising that students who see the true Israel rather than their dystopian fantasy version, will never support their cause, the group devised a new strategy, make visiting Israel an ethics violation, an unforgivable thought crime.
The group rolled out the plan in the midst of the UCLA Undergraduate Students Association Council elections (USAC). They asserted that Israel supporting student senate members Lauren Rogers and Sunny Singh who had recently visited Israel on educational trips had engaged in a conflict of interest and their previous anti-divest votes were invalid.
SJP offered their endorsement to senate candidates willing to play along, candidates not bothered by the McCarthyite assault on their fellow students. Devin Murphy, running for President against Sunny Singh was one of those candidates. Singh was pummeled by the BDS supporting fanatics. Picking up on the faux controversy, the Daily Bruin threw its endorsement behind Murphy, citing the shadow of “ethical concerns” associated with Singh’s candidacy.
Singh and Rogers were hauled before the undergraduate student judicial board on the trumped up SJP charges. Not long after the elections, the board concluded that the SJP allegations had no merit; but it was too late. Murphy defeated Singh for the presidency, sailing to a 31 vote victory on the putrid SJP winds.
SJP, with Murphy’s consent, had tainted Singh and Rogers’ reputations, sabotaged Singh’s presidential ambitions and succeeded in having their handpicked anti-Israel candidate placed into the presidency. Not a bad haul. Later, it was discovered that SJP’s candidate Murphy had gone on the same exact Israel junket for which Rogers was pummeled.

Murphy remained silent as he benefited from the witch hunt against his fellow students. The premise and cause of his victory, trumped up ethics charges against his opponents, had proven to be baseless and without warrant.
Murphy cooperated and helped facilitate the plan, a willing player in an immoral and despicable conspiracy.
Murphy is President of the USAC because his opponent was subject to a ruthless and debased effort to stain him and his campaign. Murphy, through his silence helped facilitate the plan, a willing player in an immoral and despicable conspiracy. Devin Murphy is tainted, he used his fellow Bruin’s victimization as a stepping stone to his own contaminated victory.
If Devin Murphy has an ounce of integrity he should apologize to Sunny Singh, Lauren Rogers and the students of UCLA, then he should resign.
